Brief discussion on Kids Hardcover Books square edition title typesetting system

Industry insiders know, founder book version typesetting system is commonly used in Chinese books typesetting software. In book typesetting, title typesetting plays an important role in both layout effect and typesetting efficiency.

It is often said that the title is the eyes of the article, not only because the title plays a high role in summarizing the content of the article, the title also bears the role of arousing readers' interest and guiding readers to read. In layout design, the layout of the title directly affects the expression of the layout level. A well-organized title can not only express the content and structure of the article, but also help readers to read it. When typesetting the title, the proper typesetting method can get twice the result with half the effort and guarantee the typesetting quality.

There are two ways to typeset the title of the founder book version: one is a single note method, the other is a special title row method. That is to say, the same title can have two different typesetting methods, which is the most appropriate, that is, fast and accurate typesetting method, needs to be analyzed on a case-by-case basis.

One, annotation method

The single comment method is that each format of the index question needs to be controlled by a corresponding comment. When the title format is complex, multiple comments are often required to complete the layout of a title.

For example, the title of an article is No. 2, which occupies 5 lines and is in the center row. When using the single annotation method, HT, HS and JZ annotations are required. The sample is: 〖HS5〗〖HT2XBS〗〖JZ〗

If multiple comments are used together, special attention should be paid to the sequence of comments. The line number comment (HS) must be placed in the outermost layer. The order is generally HS, SQ, HT, WT, JZ, DQ.

If the above sample annotation sequence is adjusted to: 〖HT2XBS〗〖HS5〗〖JZ〗, the layout is far from the required layout.

"〖HS5〗〖HT2XBS〗〖JZ〗" and "〖HT2XBS〗〖HS5〗〖JZ〗" are exactly the same, only the HS and HT annotations are reversed, but the layout is different. Why?

The reason lies in the HS note. Blank line parameter > The units of theta. [next]

According to the rules of the line, headings are counted in multiples of the height of the text line, that is to say, Blank line parameter > The unit should be the line height of the text. Generally speaking, the text size of the book is No. 5, such as the annotating order is 〖HS5〗〖HT2XBS〗〖JZ〗, indicating that the title occupies the line with the height of the text line (i.e., No.5 word) as the unit, accounting for the height of 5 lines, that is, the title occupies the height of 5 No.5 word lines; If the annotation order is 〖HT2XBS〗〖HS5〗〖JZ〗, it means that the title occupies the line with the font number in the HT annotation before the HS annotation, that is, the word number 2 as the unit, accounting for 5 lines of height, so the title occupies 5 lines of the height of the word number 2, so the title occupies a lot of space.

Therefore, when using HS annotations to row the title, it is best to restore the font size and font spacing, so as to ensure that the title line is the text line height (line height = word height + line space) as a unit.

In addition, when using line annotations (HS), note the following:

① The HS notes are in parentheses for "〖HS< And open and close arcs. < Title content > Generally, parentheses are used for single-line and single-level title typesetting, while open and closed arcs are used for multi-line and single-level title typesetting.

When the title is arranged in the form of open and closed arc, [HS] has the function of automatic line wrapping and ensures that there is at least one line of text after the title, which can automatically prevent the memorization of the title, which refers to the situation that the title appears at the end of the edition without text under the title. If you use a newline or break after that, an extra line will be left blank. Therefore, in general, when using HS annotations to open and close the title, remember that the [HS] does not need to add a new line or paragraph annotation.

Obviously, when each header is formatted differently, a single comment method is the best choice. When typesetting, only take the trouble to add a corresponding note to each title, in order to exclude different formats of the title.

But titles are usually hierarchical and standardized. When books are typeset, the largest title is usually called the first level title, followed by the second level title, and so on, and then the third level title, fourth level title...... ; And the format of the sibling headings must be exactly the same. That is, there are many titles in the same format in a book. If you still use the single comment method to row the title, you need to add comments one title by one title, so that not only repeated work is a lot of heavy workload, and easy to make mistakes. If you accidentally type a character wrong in a comment on one of the titles, it can result in the title being formatted differently from other titles of the same class, or even not typesetting.

Therefore, the founder book edition typesetting system has a special title for the title of the book, that is, the special title of the method. [next]

Two, special title row method

Special title row method is through the title definition and title annotation together to complete the title layout, that is, in the overall layout description file (that is, PRO file) through the title definition to specify all levels of title row method, in the sample file with title annotation (BT) to line up the content of the title and its level, the two can complete the title layout.

For example, if the title of a first-level title is No. 2 small mark Song, occupying 5 lines and centered, and the special title layout method is used, the title format should be set as No. 2 small mark Song, occupying 5 lines and centered through the title definition in the general layout description file. In the sample file, just add a note [BT1] before the title to complete the layout.

According to the layout requirements, the layout method of each level of title is defined in the PRO file in turn, and the corresponding title annotation is added before each level of title in the sample file, so as to complete the title layout of the whole book (the layout result is shown in Figure 1 large file). The square book edition can define up to eight level titles.

It is worth noting that after the PRO file is set, it must be saved, and the PRO file and sample file must have the same main file name, must be stored in the same directory, otherwise the system will not be able to read the parameters in the PRO file when scanning, resulting in the layout is not correct, or even can not typeset.

Like the line notes (HS), the heading notes (BT) have brackets for "[BT< grade # > [< add-subtraction >< blank line parameter > [#]" and "open and close arcs" [BT (< grade # >< grade # >< grade # >< grade # >< grade # > [< add-subtraction > < blank line parameter > [#] < Title content > Similarly, parentheses are used for single-line and single-level headings, and open and closed arcs are used for multi-line and single-level headings. [next]

When using header annotations (BT), note the following:

When the title is arranged in the form of open and close arc, the 〖BT] has the function of automatic line wrapping, and can not be followed by line wrapping or paragraph breaking character, otherwise there will be an extra line. Open - close - arc title comments also automatically prevent memorization.

(2) "& lt; Increase or decrease." The parameter is used to adjust the occupied line of individual titles. If the occupied line is not suitable for single-level and multi-line titles, the number of original occupied lines can be increased by (+). Or multi-level title row, use "< Increase or decrease." Parameter To adjust the total number of multi-level headings, generally reduce the number of (-) lines.

(3) The title annotation defines a clear scope of the title. Within this scope, no matter how the font number and position change, it does not affect the text after the title. There is no need to add [HT] to restore the font number after the title.

As can be seen from the above, the title arrangement method of "title definition + title annotation", namely the special title arrangement method, is a standard and flexible title arrangement method. The layout of titles at all levels only needs to be defined once in the PRO file, and the corresponding title annotations can be added before each title of the sample file to complete the title layout of the whole book, and can ensure that the title format of the whole book is completely consistent. When the format of a title needs to be modified, you only need to modify the parameters corresponding to the title in the PRO file. If the first level title was originally No. 2 small label song, and it is required to be changed to No. 2 bold after typesetting, just change the first level title font to bold in the PRO file, and there is no need to change the title annotation in the sample file. If you use the single comment method, you need to modify the parameters in the sample file title by title. Obviously, the special title arrangement method is superior to the single note method in the quality and efficiency of the typesetting of book titles.

When single-line multilevel headings or multilevel single-line headings are arranged in consecutive rows, the original definition of headings may not be appropriate. Special headings can be arranged by using the "< Increase or decrease > < Blank line parameter To adjust the title line. If the original title is No. 2, which takes up 5 lines, a certain title needs to be arranged in two lines due to too many words. If the title is still arranged in 5 lines, it may appear a little crowded. The title will be less crowded (Figure 5). That is, when the individual title needs to be adjusted, just set the title annotation parameters in the demo file.

Obviously, by adding or reducing the parameters of the blank line to adjust the title of the row, the layout is beautiful and coordinated. So the special heading arrangement is a standard and flexible heading arrangement. In addition, the comparison between the single note method and the special header arrangement method of the sample file, you can see that the number of annotations in the special header arrangement method of the sample file is greatly reduced, the improvement of typesetting efficiency is obvious. In particular, it should be noted that when using the special title layout method, it is necessary to define the layout method of all levels of titles before a scan, otherwise the system will report the "title is not defined" error, and can not complete the layout.

To sum up, when the typesetting system of the founder book typesetting system arranges the title, the title arrangement should be chosen appropriately according to the specific situation of the title. In the single annotation method, each format of the title needs to be controlled by a corresponding annotation. When the title format is more complex, multiple annotations are often needed to release the title in the required format. Therefore, the single annotation method is suitable for the situation where the number of titles is small or the format of titles is different. The special heading arrangement method needs to be combined with the heading definition and the heading annotation to complete the heading layout. Therefore, it is suitable for the situation that there are multiple headings of the same level and the heading format needs to use more than two annotations.

When typesetting, only proper typesetting method can ensure typesetting quality and improve typesetting efficiency; Otherwise, it can only get half the result with less effort and even affect the typography quality.
